A. Martini & Co was selected to work with the Pittsburgh Diocese, the St Thomas A’ Becket parish and Astorino Architects to design and build a new sanctuary and significant building expansion – totaling 25,000 sf, a 2 story addition. This project also included a new elevator shaft and elevator.
Three years prior to actual construction start, A. Martini & Co. provided preconstruction services, working closely with the owner and the architect. Site issues and building material costs were evaluated throughout these activities. Due to poor soil conditions special foundations were required. A pre-engineered metal building frame with a masonry façade was determined the most economical approach with a metal roof.
A. Martini & Co. carefully staged the project with the utmost attention to safety due to daily mass and day care services maintaining a fully operational schedule. Our team made sure there was no interruption to the daily activities of the parish.
